News Share: Official update from Dept.. of Homeland Security: January 20, 2022
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published a Federal Register notice on Jan. 21, 2022, announcing the addition of 22 Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) codes to the -https://www.ice.gov/doclib/sevis/pdf/stemList2022.pdf.
These new fields include:
Bioenergy, Forestry, Forest Resources Production and Management, Human-Centered Technology Design, Cloud Computing, Anthrozoology, Climate Science, Earth Systems Science, Economics and Computer Science, Environmental Geosciences, Geobiology, Geography and Environmental Studies, Mathematical Economics, Mathematics and Atmospheric/Oceanic Science, Data Science General, Data Analytics (general and other), Business Analytics, Data Visualization, Financial Analytics, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and Social Sciences, Research Methodology and Quantitative Methods.
[No CIP codes or fields of study have been removed from the list as part of this update]
The DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List is a complete list of fields of study that DHS considers to be STEM for the purpose of the 24-month STEM optional practical training (OPT) extension.
DHS is also providing guidance to stakeholders about how to submit CIP code nominations for potential inclusion on or removal from the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List.
